Deputies have released more information about a van they believe was used during an abduction attempt last week in Rice. An 11-year-old girl said she was approached by a man in a van Friday in Rockwood Estates Mobile Home Park who offered her a ride, Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett said.

A Benton County deputy running for sheriff has pledged that if elected he will start at the bottom of the pay grade. Deputy Pete Skwira said he will take a yearly salary of $76,648. Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett is paid $93,407 a year.
6 Elk River football coaches disciplined
The Elk River School board has voted unanimously to discipline six football coaches. But the board also assured a crowd of more than 100 parents and boosters Tuesday night the coaches will be on the field for Friday night's game against Rogers.
St. Cloud teacher opens her 41st year in the classroom
School opened on Tuesday, and, once again, Kathy Johannes was there in front of her classroom. She's done it every year for 41 years. In Johannes' class on Tuesday was first-grader Tiffany Miller-Schroden. Johannes also taught Tiffany's uncle and her grandfather.
